The GKM Silverguard product range covers mostly all soft surfaces not only in healthcare but also in other markets and consumer market environments.

According to the Imperial College Faculty of Medicine, London in a recent paper produced by Prof. A B Lansdown, it was quoted, “silver has a long and intriguing history as an antibiotic in human care – it has been developed for use in water purification, wound care (used by Johnson & Johnson), bone prosthesis, reconstructive orthopaedic surgery, cardiac devices, catheters and surgical appliances”.

The coronavirus has brought another dimension to cross infections however we are proud and excited to have announced good news for South Africans – “Clinical studies show X-Static technology’s ability to reduce coronavirus viability on fabrics”. 

How It Works

The primary principal behind X-Static technology is the release of silver ions (Ag+) from X-STATIC fibers. In order to better explain, when you incorporate X-STATIC technology into face masks, these positively charged silver ions will be released in the presence of moisture (exhaled respiratory moisture) and will act in several ways to inhibit and eliminate bacteria and virus on the surface of the mask, protecting the mask from microbial impacts.

Mechanism of action of Silver against SARS-COV2 (COVID-19) virus
